Can you cancel Virgin Voyages and get your money back?

Given life’s unpredictability, plans can sometimes change. Suppose you must cancel your Virgin Voyages cruise because of one of life’s unexpected mishaps. If you’re booking more than 120 days before the start of the voyage, you have a 7-day grace period to request a full refund on your deposit and any other payments made. Refunds will be issued to your original form of payment.

After the 7-day grace period (but before the 120-day window), you can receive a full refund on any payments, excluding your deposit. For your deposit, you will receive Future Voyage Credit to be used on a future sailing. 

Any funds paid between 119 and 45 days will be converted to Future Voyage Credit (FVC), which is good to use on any voyage one year from the original voyage start date. All funds paid are final once you’re within 44 days of your voyage. But you can send someone else in your place up to 48 hours before your voyage if you can’t sail. 

While we hope you’ll never need to cancel your dream cruise, it’s reassuring that Virgin Voyages has your back.

Do I need to take Virgin Voyage’s insurance on the trip?

Though not mandatory for a Virgin Voyages cruise, investing in travel insurance is wise for your peace of mind. Virgin Voyage offers coverage that may vary depending on the coverage and number of people. Still, costs can range from $189 for two people, including trip cancellation/interruption/delay and emergency medical coverage.

Alternatively, we generally recommend getting Travel Insurance from a third-party company in case of an emergency while you are in a foreign country. Whichever option you choose, having travel insurance can help safeguard your investment and ensure a worry-free voyage.

What if there is a Hurricane – what will Virgin Voyages do?

Being travel agents from New Orleans – we know that Hurricanes can be at the top of the mind when traveling from June 1-November 30. But do not worry. You will also find that Pizza Place, soft drinks, and ice cream don’t have an extra cost – so there will not be any sneaky extra charge on your bill. 

After the initial shock of all the great things to find on Virgin Voyages, you will find a unique experience called the Pajama Party on the first night, which is hilarious – because most cruise lines frown upon wearing pajamas around the ship while Virgin is embracing it on the first night. And don’t worry about a formal night – that is replaced by Scarlet Night.

Still, you can purchase specialty coffee and pressed juices while on board if you want something more unique. One of my favorite things was waking up early and grabbing coffee for my sister. I enjoyed myself on the balcony before experiencing the day. 

Can I order Room Service on Virgin Voyages?

You can order room service on Virgin Voyages – however, there is a small service charge. You must open the Virgin Voyages Sailor app and order whatever items your heart desires. The service charge is $5, but if you order any paid item, that service charge is waived! One of my favorite things was ordering an additional coffee with my breakfast. 

I heard there is afternoon tea.

Yes! On board Virgin Voyages sea days, they host an afternoon tea! The tea has a nominal fee, and you can decide if you want it to be boozy. 

Will you get seasick on a Virgin Voyage?

While seasickness can be a concern for some travelers, Virgin Voyages mitigates the risk by utilizing stabilizers and deploying larger ships to minimize motion. I recommend booking your cabin mid-ship, and on the lowest deck you can get to prevent seasickness. If you experience seasickness, onboard medical services and remedies such as Dramamine or over-the-counter Meclizine are available to assist you.

I got seasick on one of the last days of the cruise while in the Wake. I was so excited about this restaurant, but halfway through the meal, I had to return to my cabin! Even though I had sea bands and seasickness pills, the only thing that settled my stomach was the ginger ale my sister got me! So don’t let the fear of seasickness hold you back from embarking on the adventure of a lifetime.
